Phobias are most common problem among the people. Many people face different types of phobias that vary in intensity. In Mental disorders phobias are the usual problem that people are facing and rushing towards its treatment.

Definition:

Phobia is illogical and unreasonable fear of any thing that cause distress and apprehension. It is excessive fear of anything, place, situation or object that cause anxiety and apprehension.”

A person dealing with phobia thinks they are at risk and think that they will be harmed without presence of any actual danger. Types:

There are different types of phobias that creates distress in a person’s life. Here we are discussing major types:

  1. Specific phobia: Specific phobia are the condition of disproportionate fear and dread when a person is encountered with a particular thing that increases the feeling of distress and apprehension. For example: by experiencing height or facing a dog.
  2. Social phobia: Social phobia are the condition of fear and dread when facing some social situations or doing any work or task in which they can be ashamed or humiliated by others. For example: during a public speech.
  3. Agoraphobia: Agoraphobia is the condition of extreme fear and dread of situations in which a person experience difficulty in escaping or receiving help in that situation.
